Sponsorships and donations
Securing the necessary financial resources constitutes one of the most important issues related to the production of cultural goods and to the smooth operation of a cultural activity or cultural organization.
Particularly in the contemporary era, efforts are made to secure resources through various means, such as own funds, sponsorships, state funding and other forms of support.
The development of the concept of corporate social responsibility among companies and individuals has highlighted sponsorship and donations as modern forms of funding for cultural organizations, functioning as an important driver of cultural development.
The concept of cultural sponsorship is distinguished from donation in Article 2 of Law 3525/2007. A donation refers to the provision of an asset without consideration or compensation, whereas sponsorship involves supporting an activity or project, either financially or in kind.
The General State Archives (GSA), according to the new law (Law 4610/2019, Article 198), accept donations.
